| STILL REMAINS, IN DUE TIME, SEVENTH STAR, NODES OF RANVIER
I saw all these bands last Friday in Hebron, Ohio at what was [very
possibly] my LAST HARDCORE SHOW EVER. It was a good last show in
that I saw a lot of the good I love about hardcore and going to shows
and I saw a lot of the bad.
Good things:
Great music (some of the best in the world)
dancing that still amuses me, amazes me, makes me crack up, and is just awesome
singing along
running in circles
the occasional cool person to talk to
cool tshirts and cds to buy
camaraderie
Bad things:
bands that are constantly changing lineups and members, especially singers
(no offense to any of the three bands listed above that had new singers
but two of them are really not nearly as good as the originals--I liked
the new In Due Time guy pretty well)
fashion scene
tshirts and cds to buy
people who dont or cant sing along because they have no clue (okay to
be new to a band or shows but a lot of people are never really into
it. I was impressed with how many people seemed to know Still
Remains' stuff and sang along. I say 'seemed to know' because a
lot of those same people totally mistook the pause in "I Can Revive Him
With My Own Hands" as the end of the song. I was not impressed
with how no one new In Due Time's stuff. I picked that up at
Family Christian more than a month ago I think for an excellent price.)
songs with no dancing, running, or sing along parts (why play these?)
bands with controversial names that have no clue (no offense,
Foreknown) and can't satisfy my desire for a good theological
discussion on any level
vapidity
I probably sound like I'm suddenly turning into a music snob on my last
show ever but it's just the expression of a bittersweet moving
on. It was cool to go out with Tim to his *first* real hardcore
show but I don't see the scene being compatible with my new, ummmmmmmm,
pre-occupation:

This is Erin. And it's not that she's against the music or that I really find it
contradictory but with time with her, some things have to go.
It's really a choice of ministry over hardcore. I spend a lot of time 'doing' ministry and I have considered
for a while 'the scene' as a 'ministry I supported' as opposed to just
doing ministry or study or whatever I did with most of my time to the
glory of God. And I will continue to support the ministry of
this music in the privacy of my own home but shows take a lot of time and
I never was able to really form good relationships out of going to them
anyway.
So, it was great hanging out with and meeting people like Wookie, Ryan, Dan, Celia, Jamie, Erin, and a bunch of other
people whose blogs (sorry, er, xangas) I don't link to for whatever reason, at shows, but I'm afraid I may meet no more.
God is good and He is very very very good to me, not because I deserved
a thing. I don't deserve the breath I am breathing or the
sensation of my fingers on this keyboard. Every breath is
mercy. Every good thing is grace. God is gracious and does
everything for His own glory. I know that if I do not live and do
everything in this life, in my relationship, to His glory then it will
fall apart and that He's given me everything in order to glorify
Himself. It is my joy to do so and this is how I am doing it in
part.
Thanks and praise to my hXc brothers and sisters. Keep praying
and battling sin in your lives and eating and drinking and dancing and
singing and playing and doing whatever you do for the glory of
God. (1 Cor. 10:31)

| Part of a suicide note, recently left by a young person upon the taking of his own life:
"If God is all-powerful, he is responsible for everything. Whether he
causes it or just fails to prevent it, he is responsible. Christianity
says that God sends no one to hell, but that people choose to reject
God. If you say man has free will, and God will not interfere with
that, then first of all, you are admitting that God is not omnipotent,
and second, if God were Love, he would have prevented free will if it
meant one person going to hell. Love would never let someone go to
hell. It is common for Christianity lay the blame on the person, as if
God is begging them to reconsider, but they are just obstinate. Let's
be realistic. Who would stand against God? Who wouldn't love to be
offered something good by God? The reality is that God is not trying
to reach us. If He is all-powerful and absolutely loving, he would say
what he needs to say, not send vague signs or contrivable epiphanies.
He would not make a game of it."
There are true and false things in this message but I think some of the
FALSE things that are generally taught and repeated by a lot of
American Christians are exposed. Bad theology is one more thing
that sends people to hell. The
Truth I've posted before this post would have gone a long way in this
young man's life.

then first of all, you are admitting that God is not omnipotent." - true last words of a suicide victim
| Someone very special motivated me (indirectly) to write this out in my
own words for all to see and hear and understand. Please read on. The
scripture sections are incomplete because I'm still working on this as
a whole and there are so many.
TULIP: In my own words, for
the glory of God alone, under the authority of scripture alone. (All
references to "God" refer to God the Father, God the Son, and God the
Holy Spirit, ie. the Trinity.)
T: For the purposes of God,
in accordance with His Holiness and perfection, and for reasons that
His creations will not know on Earth, beginning with the fall in
original sin and the spiritual death of Adam and Eve, no one has been
willing or able to do anything in accordance with righteousness.
Everyone has inherited the spiritual death through Adam and is a
natural enemy of God who does not seek God in spirit or truth and will
not love God. We are dead. Our works are dead. Our philosophies,
systems, desires, and imaginations are dead.
U: For the purposes
of God, in accordance with His Holiness and perfection, and for reasons
that His creations will not know on Earth, beginning before the
foundation of the Earth, God the Father chose the sheep and elected
them, without any regard to anything but His own glory and purposes,
that they would be born again and gain the inheritance of Jesus in
righteousness.
L: For the purposes of God, in accordance with
His Holiness and perfection, in order to purchase the faith, works, and
final salvation of the sheep, Jesus Christ atoned for all their sins.
The judgment was this--that every sin, in the past, and in the future,
of Jesus' bride was purified and completely taken away, including the
entire forgiveness for the natural hate and unbelief in Him.
I:
For the purposes of God, in accordance with His Holiness and
perfection, in order to gather the sheep, grant them faith, repentance,
forgiveness, and righteousness in new life, He calls to them in a voice
only they hear and respond to. He is steadfast and patient in calling
His sheep, giving mercy and grace, that in time, they will respond and
choose Him.
P: For the purposes of God, in accordance with His
Holiness and perfection, because of the immense inadequacy of our
current forms to enjoy and glorify Him in righteousness because of sin,
He walks with us along the path of growth and maturity in
sanctification and righteousness. He chose the sheep to want Him, to
seek Him, to love Him, to respond to Him, and to follow Him until final
judgment and forever in Heaven.
T: Total depravity and Total inability and Total unwillingness and Total reliance and Total dependence
U: Unconditional election and Unrelenting election and Undeniable election and Unsuperficial election
L: Limited atonement and Lifetime atonement and Lasting atonement and Life-giving atonement and Law-fulfilling atonement
I: Irresistable grace and Indelible grace and Intimate grace and Internal grace and Irrevocable grace
P: Perseverance of the saints and Pursuit of the sheep and Persistance of the Shepherd and Providence of the Shepherd

TULIP:
Because salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, and on the
merit of Christ alone. And life and death and everything in the whole
universe and eternity are all about God, for God, by God, from God,
through God, to Him and Him alone for He is wholly Holy, wholly worthy,
righteous, for now, the past, and forevermore.
Weep with me, in reverent joy, at the words of Psalm 139:
Search Me, O God, and Know My Heart To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.
1O LORD, you have searched me and known me!
2You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar.
3You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.
4Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether.
5You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.
6Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.
7Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence?
8If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
9If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.
11If I say, "Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,"
12even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.
13For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
14I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
15My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
16Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there were none of them.
17How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!
18If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you.
19Oh that you would slay the wicked, O God! O men of blood, depart from me!
20They speak against you with malicious intent; your enemies take your name in vain!
21Do I not hate those who hate you, O LORD? And do I not loathe those who rise up against you?
22I hate them with complete hatred; I count them my enemies.
23Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!
24And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!
T:
Only by being set free by the Spirit can we freely will and act in
righteousness. Regeneration precedes faith. Faith necessarily follows
regeneration. You must be born again to receive saving faith and no one
is saved apart from faith. The unregenerate are under the law of sin
and death and making choices out of their own free will, never please
God. They cannot because they always choose not. Rebirth happens in an
instant for the elect and is the sovereign act of God. U: God said
and knew and made who would be saved and who would go to hell before
‘time’ began. God chooses when, how, and why someone gets saved by His
grace alone. L: Christ only forgave and intended to forgive the sins of the elect. I: God calls and woos all the elect to Himself. If someone is not saved, it is ultimately because they were not elect. P: God's elect are those who seek, find, believe, repent, live, worship, and persevere until the end.
"Do
you take offense at this? Then what if you were to see the Son of Man
ascending to where He was before? It is the Spirit who gives life; the
flesh is of no avail. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit
and life. But there are some of you who do not believe." John 6 : 61b-64a

was just a delivery guy, a mailman for letters Christ wrote when He
died and rose again. In 2nd Corinthians 3:3, it says, "And you show
that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink
but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on
tablets of human hearts." I just want to be a delivery guy too. God is
still writing on the hearts of the elect and sealing them with His Holy
Spirit for us to deliver.
